Wildlife and landscape artist Jonathan Pomroy has been living and working in Ampleforth, since August 2009. He is married to Dr Hannah Pomroy, Head of Mathematics at Ampleforth College. All Jonathan's paintings are composed from sketches and observations made in the field in all winds and weather, He derives great inspiration working in North Yorkshire, a county which offers a wide variety of habitat and landscape - one day could find him sketching Red Grouse on the moors, the next puffins at Bempton Cliffs! Other regular sketching locations are North Norfolk, the Somerset Levels, the Yorkshire Dales and the far North of Scotland near Cape Wrath.
Jonathan has exhibited at the Mall Galleries, London with the Society of Wildlife artists and The Cystic Fybrosis Trust exhibitions at Bonhams and Christies. Jonathan has a blog on this website where you can follow progress of new paintings and see recent pages from his many sketchbooks, often featuring the landscape and wildlife of the Ampleforth estate.
